Talk-Texting – Using Punctuation on Your Phone
Here’s a trick not many people know about. Your phone is smarter than you think!
Using A vs. An
THE RULE: If it comes before a word, acronym, or abbreviation that begins with a vowel sound, use “an.” Before a consonant sound, use “a.”
Versus vs. Verse – This One Makes My Head Explode!
Sports radio & TV hosts are the biggest abusers of this one! Most say “verse” instead of “versus” and I reflexively yell at the radio or TV. Yes, I’m talking to you ESPN, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, and FOX Sports. You’re all guilty!
To vs. Too vs. Two
Example 2: “Someone had just blamed a fart on the dog, so Jimmy farted, too, thinking he had some cover, but unfortunately, his wasn’t silent.”
Using “Me” vs. “Myself”
Example (wrong): “Maggie was proud of her new implants and sent pictures of them to Jimmy and myself.”
