Talk-Texting – Using Punctuation on Your Phone
Smartphone the F*ck Up!
Many people exclusively use their smartphone to communicate these days, and lots of them say they don’t use punctuation because they use speech-to-text or talk-to-text. Well, guess what? Your phone is smarter than you think. It knows punctuation!
Did you know you can say “comma” or “period” – or even “ellipsis” – and your phone will insert it for you? How cool is that?! Now that you know this little trick there are no more excuses for f*cking up punctuation in a text, post, or email. I know you have your phone in front of you right now, so go ahead and try it – I’ll wait…
See? Wasn’t that awesome?
And here’s another trick: the long-press. If you long-press on the “hyphen” key, it brings up a visual menu of a hyphen, an en dash and an em dash. How cool is that?! A long-press on the period will let you select an ellipsis. Try all the keys to explore the possibilities. And if your smartphone keyboard doesn’t do all that you want it to, you can even download a new keyboard! Just search for one in your app store.
These simple tricks work with all punctuation marks, so you really have no excuse for talk-texting things that make you sound stupid.
So… get out your phone and Smartphone the F*ck Up!
